I recently purchased the ComfyGo Majestic 440 HD Plus and, overall, I’m very pleased with it. The chair performs well, the remote-control functionality is fantastic, and I’m looking forward to the independence and mobility it will provide.
However, I have one significant criticism regarding its design.
For a powerchair advertised as heavy-duty with a 440 lb weight capacity, the stock width between the armrests is surprisingly restrictive. I find it difficult to imagine someone at or near the maximum weight capacity being able to use this chair comfortably without modifications.
In my opinion, a true HD powerchair in this weight class should offer 24–26 inches of usable seating width, with appropriately spaced armrests, as standard. At the very least, a wider configuration should be available when ordering, rather than requiring customers to purchase additional accessories to make the chair usable.
I ordered the optional 2-inch armrest extenders for $73, but the initial shipping quote to Canada was an astonishing $331. Thankfully, after speaking with ComfyGo’s customer service team, they arranged an alternative FedEx shipping option for $80. I genuinely appreciate their willingness to help, although paying more for shipping than the accessory itself is still disappointing.
Despite these shortcomings, I’m extremely happy with the chair’s performance and features. The customer service experience was positive, and I believe ComfyGo has an excellent product that could be made even better by reconsidering the standard dimensions of its heavy-duty models.
I would recommend the Majestic 440 HD Plus, but strongly encourage larger customers to confirm the dimensions and available armrest configurations before purchasing.
