My wife has been needing help using oxygen and tiring legs from walking, so I was searching the web and came across the iq8000. She loved it, so we purchased it.
PROS:
* The reclining back and lifting legs are great! I’m so much more comfortable when I have to wait in a doctor’s office.
* The biggest advantage of this chair is not needing to buy a wheelchair van! My doc was going to send me for PT evaluations and going thru insurance to get a sturdier chair, but it would’ve taken 6 months and would’ve required buying a wheelchair van or external platform trailer which would’ve been hard to use in rainy/snowy/slushy New England winters. This fits in our existing small SUV.
CONS::
* The hair trigger joystick is too sensitive and is hard to control.
* Reversing straight is impossible. The back wheels back up fine, but the front wheels are like a grocery cart and they move randomly without me being able to control them, so no matter how carefully I move the joystick or remote, the front wheels send me in different directions and I look like a drunk driver. In an elevator around other people, my husband has to put it in neutral and manually move me backwards or of the elevator so I don’t run over people. That is a MAJOR drawback, especially if you don’t have someone with you!!
* You should be able to turn off the beeping when reversing (especially since it’s so hard/impossible to reverse straight)! The manual refers to a Mute button that appears nowhere on the photo or the controls.
* I need someone to take it apart and put it together to get it in and out of the car.
* So far I’ve only used it on flat ground inside of garages, So I’m not sure how stable it’ll be on inclines or in winter weather, etc with the exposed wires
IN SUMMARY:
It has some drawbacks, but it allows me to get out with someone’s help and it fits in or existing car so no need for a w/c van!
I've recently immigrated from the U. S. to Panama. It's a challenging transistion for any powered mobility scooter. Let's just say that Panamá isn't a card carrying member of the ADA and the street environment plays hell on the integrity a mobility device.
The stout, all steel, construction of the MS3000 makes it a worthy opponent to withstand the rigors of the Panamanian environment.
The GB motors are a real plus to propel this robust scooter. The folding feature is also a real positive. Overall this scooter's construction gets high marks in my books.
The only negatives are the headlight mount, which leaves it vulnerable to damage due to regular impact. The brake construction, because the brake surfaces get dirty and then they squeal very loudly. Finally the standard saddle is small and uncomfortable and you must purchase the optional full sized saddle for added comfort.
The chair is very useful and folds so easily with just 1 small movement, it is usefull in use both inside and outside. In the beginning I had to get used to it but i'm so happy with it and now I can go easily to places. The person who installed the parts was very friendly and gave good advice, I definately recommand these people!
We purchased this folding electric wheelchair for our 10-year old daughter. We love the remote feature so that we can walk with her as a family and not always behind her pushing her other chair. It came delivered with a broken seatbelt, but the customer service was fantastic and they are replacing it! Love the us chair and we can’t wait for our adventures to come!
